Convexity in Contact Topology

We present the basic theory of convex hypersurfaces in contact manifolds following Giroux's Convexite en topologie de contact. As an application, we'll sketch a proof of the existence of contact open books in dimension 3. At the end, we'll discuss some more modern applications.
