Dan Freed Named Henri Poincaré Distinguished Visiting Professor

We are delighted to announce Dan Freed, a Professor at University of Texas at Austin, as the Henri Poincaré Distinguished Visiting Professor in the Mathematics Department this fall.

The Henri Poincaré Distinguished Visiting Professorship generously funded by an endowment to the Mathematics Department to bring worldly renowned distinguished lecturers to Stanford University.

Professor Freed has worked on a variety of problems in geometry, topology, and global analysis. His research often relates to mathematical questions in theoretical physics: quantum field theory, string theory, and condensed matter theory.
