Chabauty and tropical geometry

I will give a crash course on Chabauty, and will review various results bounding the number of rational points on curves of genus \ge 2.  Katz--Rabinoff--Zureick-Brown have introduced some beautiful tropical techniques to this area, and I will use their work as an excuse to talk about some tropical techniques and their utility in arithmetic geometry.
