Calder Morton-Ferguson

Calder Morton-Ferguson joined our department this academic year (2024-25). This Autumn Quarter, he is teaching Math 51 and in the Spring Quarter he will be teaching Math 24C .

Calder completed his PhD at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, in 2024. His main interests are in geometric and categorical representation theory. Calder likes to study these topics from many angles, and his favorite types of questions are those which require the synthesis of combinatorics, algebraic geometry, and representation theory.

Calder has received multiple awards such as: MIT's Charles W. and Jennifer C. Johnson Prize, 2024 for Best graduate student paper, for the paper "Symplectic Fourier–Deligne Transforms on G/U and the Algebra of Braids and Ties” and MIT's Charles and Holly Housman Award, 2022, Presented for “skill and dedication in undergraduate teaching” in 2021-2022.
