Stanford Mathematics students awarded the Goldwater Scholarship

Congratulations to Math majors Nitya Mani and Nina Zubrilina who have been awarded the 2018 Goldwater scholarship, which is designed to foster and encourage outstanding students to pursue careers in the fields of mathematics, the natural sciences, and engineering.

The 2018 Goldwater Scholars were selected based on academic merit from a field of 1,280 natural sciences, mathematics, and engineering students nominated by the campus representatives from over 2,000 colleges and universities nationwide. Nitya Mani and Nina Zubrilina are two of the this year's three Goldwater Scholars from Stanford, and among the twenty-nine scholars this year who are mathematics and computer science majors.

Both Nitya Mani and Nina Zubrilina plan to obtain a PhD in Mathematics, pursue mathematical research and, ultimately, careers in academia.
