Si Ying Lee and Jeongwan Haah awarded 2025 Breakthrough Prize awards

Si Ying Lee, Szego Assistant Professor, has won the Maryam Mirzakhani New Frontiers Prize for her new approach at reducing a crucial problem in the Langlands program into a local problem. This award was established for early-career women in mathematics. The award is named in memory of the famed Fields Medalist and Stanford Mathematics Professor Maryam Mirzakhani.

Jeongwan Haah, Associate Professor of Physics and, by courtesy, of MathematicsPhysics, has been awarded the 2025 New Horizons in Physics Prize for developing models of emergent quantum systems –macroscopic systems exhibiting quantum behavior, whose potential applications include quantum computing. This year’s prize honors early-career researchers in a vide variety of fields.
