Professor Thomas Church the first recipient of the Kamil Duszenko Prize

The Kamil Duszenko Prize was established in 2015 by Kamil's mother, Izabela Mironowicz.

The aim of the Prize is to honor a young scientist whose mathematical research has brought outstanding results, deepening the actual state of knowledge and broadening its future perspectives. The Prize is granted by the Foundation of the Mathematicians of Wrocław and is awarded at least once in two years, the first time in 2015. The jury appointed by the steering committee asks recognized authorities in mathematics to nominate young scientists for the prize. The prize winner travels to Poland to receive the award, give an academic lecture, and meet with the Mathematical Olympiad contestants.

This year’s Prize for outstanding results in the geometric theory of groups goes to Professor Thomas Church for his work concerning low-dimensional topology and cohomologies of arithmetic groups but, primarily, for discovering and deep exploration of the new phenomenon called “representative stability”.
