Mathematics Professor Andras Vasy elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences

Mathematics Professor Andras Vasy has been elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, one of the country’s oldest and most prestigious honorary learned societies. The American Academy of Arts and Sciences honors exceptional scholars, leaders, artists, and innovators engaged in advancing the public good.

Professor Vasy has been a member of the Stanford Mathematics Department since 2008.  Vasy works on Partial Differential Equations, which describe a variety of physical phenomena. His work has contributed to the fundamental understanding of scattering  theory, which looks at the intersection of of PDEs over time and provides a framework for the study of particle and wave scattering.

There will be an induction ceremony for the 2019 class in October in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
