2025 Graduating Seniors Awarded For Their Honors Thesis Work

Math majors Quanlin Chen, Andrei Mandelshtam, Yunchu Dai, Michael Doboli, and Bradley Moon were awarded for their honors thesis work this year. 

Andrei Mandelshtam was awarded the George Pólya Prize, while Yunchu Dai, Michael Doboli, and Bradley Moon were awarded the Undergraduate Research Award.

Andrei Mandelshtam, for his thesis, titled “Lie Algebra Representations and Modular Form Identities”, was advised by Professor Daniel Bump. 

Yunchu Dai, for his thesis, titled “Four-end Solutions to Elliptic Sine-gordon Equation on the plane”, was advised by Associate Professor Otis Chodosh. 

Michael Doboli, for his thesis, titled “Comparison theory on nonreversible Markov chains”, was advised by Professor Persi Diaconis.

These awards recognize outstanding honors theses from graduating seniors in our department. 

Quanlin Chen was awarded the Firestone Medal. The Firestone Medal Award recognizes the top ten percent of all honors theses in the social sciences, natural sciences, engineering, and applied sciences. 

Quanlin Chen's thesis, titled “Langlands conjugation conjecture of Shimura varieties”, was advised by Professor Richard Taylor.
