I will try to explain some of the basic reasons why quantum mechanics is so deeply connected to topics in modern mathematics. A key point of focus will be on the physics of functional integrals. Supersymmetric quantum mechanics, 2d topological quantum field theory, 2D quantum gravity, and 3d Chern-Simons theory will be used as illustrative examples (as time permits).
