I will describe a new method for establishing zero-free regions that is inspired by Siegel’s ineffective lower bound for Dirichlet L-functions at s = 1. The method leads to the strongest t-aspect (and more generally, the strongest GL(1)-twist aspect) zero-free region for general GL(m)xGL(n) Rankin-Selberg L-functions. This is joint work with Gergely Harcos.
