Abstract: We’ll spend some time discussing an example of quantum integrability in the context of a classical system known as ASEP, discussing the solution via the coordinate Bethe ansatz. For reasons that are quite mysterious to me, this gives rise to an algebraic Bethe ansatz. We’ll focus most on the Yang-Baxter equation which was in a BBC poll for “most beautiful equation” and may be of interest to some topologically inclined people and/or algebraically inclined people.
