An Introduction to Audio Encoding

Digital recordings of sound require discrete sampling of an analog signal. In this talk I'll discuss some of the artifacts that develop from this approximation, and how those errors inform industry standards for audio encoding. Time permitting, I'll discuss the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) algorithm and the Short-Time Fourier Transform (STFT).
