We will begin by giving some motivation for the construction of Monopole Floer homology, using equations similar to the Seiberg-Witten ones but adapted to dimension 3. We will then recall the construction of Morse homology (in a finite dimension setting) and adapt this construction to the case of a manifold with boundary to obtain different versions of Morse homology. We will end by presenting the similar construction for infinite dimensional manifolds (in our case the based space of configurations) which yields to the monopole Floer homology groups.
